Valheim boats
Four hulls, one rule: the wind decides everything. Every boat sails fastest with the wind behind it, slows on a reach, and refuses to make progress straight upwind, where you drop sail and paddle. Moder's forsaken power grants tailwind on demand, which is why sailors kill the fourth boss twice.

Raft
A floating workbench product for the first river crossing. Slow into the wind and painful over any real distance.
Karve
The early-game workhorse. Small enough to thread rivers, quick enough to outrun serpents, and the first boat with a hold.
Longship
The iron-age freighter. Carries a full ore haul across oceans and shrugs off storms that would sink a Karve.
Drakkar
Built to survive the boiling sea around the Ashlands. The toughest hull and the biggest hold in the game.
Metal ore does not teleport, so boats are the ore economy: a Longship hold full of iron beats any number of portal trips. Park against a dock or shallow water, since boats take damage from ramming terrain but not from sitting in the rain. Serpents can chew through a Karve in one encounter; either fight them from the deck with a Huntsman Bow or simply outrun them downwind. And before any long voyage, check your route on the seed map so you know where the next friendly coastline is.
