When did Valheim 1.0 come out?

September 9, 2026, on every platform at once: PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Is the Valheim 1.0 update free?

Yes, if you already own the game. Your copy updates like any other patch. For new buyers the price went from $19.99 to $29.99 at launch.

Do I need to start a new world for 1.0?

No, old worlds keep working and the Deep North generates in any unexplored far-north terrain. Iron Gate recommends a fresh world for the full experience, and you'll need one if you've already explored the north on your current map.

Is Valheim coming to PS5 and Switch 2?

Yes. Both versions launch on September 9, 2026, the same day as 1.0, with full crossplay to PC and Xbox.

Does Valheim 1.0 have crossplay?

Yes, full crossplay between all platforms. Cross-platform save transfer is more limited: only Xbox and PC via the Microsoft Store version sync saves.

Is the Deep North the last biome?

Yes. It completes the biome roadmap Iron Gate laid out at the 2021 early access launch. The Ocean biome gets no changes in 1.0, and post-launch plans are bugfixes and quality of life work with no new content confirmed.

Will mods work with Valheim 1.0?

Expect breakage. There's no official mod support, and Iron Gate has said updated mods take time after any patch. Most mods will need updates for 1.0 before they run again.

What is the final boss of the Deep North?

Iron Gate hasn't named it. What's confirmed is that 1.0 adds new cinematics for all bosses and for a finale, so the Deep North ends the boss progression that started with Eikthyr.
