Plant them to grow a birch tree.
Birch Seeds drop from birch trees, including the autumn variants, and are planted with a 
Cultivator to grow more. Birch is one of the two 
Finewood trees, so a planted stand removes the walk through the Black Forest looking for wild ones. The drop rate depends on whether the tree was itself planted and which biome it grew in, which makes the first handful the slow part. Seedlings need clear ground around them or they never become trees. They stack to 100 and weigh 0.1 each.
