Ectoplasm is a material with no recipe, no drop source and no loot table entry anywhere in the game files, which leaves the console as the only way to hold one. It weighs 2, stacks to 50 and can be carried through a portal. Its one listed use is the Voidcaller, so it reads as unfinished content rather than something the world produces.
