Vile has 1,200 health and spawns in the plains.
It takes extra damage from fire and spirit; it resists blunt, slash, pierce and frost; poison does nothing to it at all.
Its hardest hit is bite at 130 pierce and 20 slash, out of 6 attacks.
Of everything craftable,
Lightning Strike,
Staff of Embers and
Thunderblood Crossbow put the most damage through what it resists.
It always drops
Bear Meat,
Vile Ribcage and
Bear Hide.
Vile is an undead bear that spawns in the Plains at night and leaves living
Bears alone despite the two sitting in different factions. It has 1,200 health, resists blunt, slash, pierce and frost, is immune to poison, and is weak to fire and spirit, the only two types it takes extra damage from. Its bite deals 20 slash and 130 pierce, its rearing claw slam 130 slash, its single swipes 120 slash, and its stationary paw slam 150 blunt in a 2.5 meter circle every 12 seconds. It flees any fire it comes within 3 meters of, though against a player holding a torch it only jerks the attack aside at the last moment. It drops 1 to 3
Vile Ribcage, 2 to 3
Bear Meat and 1 to 2
Bear Hide every kill, 1 to 2
Rotten Meat at 80%, and a
Vile Trophy at 10%.
Physical damage bounces, fire and spirit bite. A campfire still herds them like the living bears, and daylight solves the encounter entirely. The ribcage they drop is crafting material, which tells you everything about how the fight is supposed to end.
| Where | Roll | Group | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plains | 25% every 4000 s, max 1 near you | 1 | night only |
Each 64 m zone keeps its own timer per entry and rolls the chance once per interval while loaded; a zone never loaded before rolls the moment you arrive. The spawn lands 40 to 80 m from a player, never inside a base unless noted, and "max near you" counts the loaded area around that zone. Dungeon and camp spawners are separate and not counted here.
With devcommands enabled, this spawns Vile in front of you. The third number is the level: 3 spawns a 2-star.
