Three food slotsBest food for every biome
The strongest dishes at each stage, health firstYou have three food slots, and what you put in them is most of your combat readiness. The usual split is two health foods and one stamina food for fighters, flipped for archers, with eitr foods replacing one slot on a mage. These are the strongest picks worth cooking at each stage, with their stats from the game data. Every list runs health first, then stamina, then eitr. The Deep North moved all three ceilings in 1.0: 110 health, 115 stamina and 105 eitr, against the 105, 100 and 95 the Ashlands could manage.
Nothing here fills a slot properly. Cooked deer meat's 35 health is the ceiling until you have a cauldron, and honey is the only stamina food worth the weight at 35. Everything on this list runs 20 minutes or less, so you re-eat constantly.
Deer stew is the whole tier: 45 health for 25 minutes off one cooked deer meat, one blueberry and one carrot. Pulled Bear is new in 1.0 and lasts 30 minutes instead of 25, but 37 health puts it behind minced meat sauce, so take it for the longer timer rather than the number. Carrot soup at 45 stamina is the first stamina food that holds up.
Serpent stew nearly doubles the Black Forest's best at 80 health, with 4 regen and a 30 minute timer, and the only hard part is killing a serpent. Sausages are what you'll actually run on: 55 health from entrails you're already pulling out of crypts.
Wolf skewer is 65 health, and wolf jerky's 33 health and 33 stamina for a full 30 minutes make it the food you carry when you don't know how long you'll be out. Eyescream costs three greydwarf eyes and a freeze gland for 65 stamina, the first stamina food worth a permanent slot.
Lox pie holds 75 health for 30 minutes and stays useful well into the Mistlands. Blood pudding is the stamina half at 75, and bread is the cheap version at 70 if you'd rather keep your bloodbags for arrows.
Misthare Supreme leads health at 85, with meat platter and honey glazed chicken behind it at 80 on a 30 minute timer. Eitr starts here: Seeker aspic gives the most at 85, and stuffed mushroom's 75 comes off the prep table and oven with no cauldron upgrade at all.
Every health food in this tier carries 6 regen against the Mistlands' 5, which is worth more than the flat health gap suggests. Piquant Pie's 105 health held the game record until 1.0, and Marinated Greens at 95 eitr is still the best eitr food you can cook without going north.
Meat In Bread and Seal Meat Soup both land 110 health with 7 regen for 30 minutes, clearing Piquant Pie on health, stamina and regen at the same duration, and both need the Smoker, the level 7 cauldron extension that costs 5 gold and 6 frostwood. Oatmeal is the strange one: 115 stamina and 85 eitr in the same slot, so a mage running it gives up 20 eitr against Fish Soup and gets a full stamina food back for it. Poteitr fills all three bars at 35 each straight out of the ground, which beats Magecap and Vineberry Clusters at the same job. Northern Morning Fare, the feast, is 85 health, 85 stamina and 43 eitr for 50 minutes, higher on all three than any other feast, but it's placed at a table rather than carried.
