Scrap Iron is a raw metal mined from muddy scrap piles and looted from chests in Sunken Crypts, which the Swamp Key from the Elder unlocks. It weighs 10, stacks to 30 and cannot be carried through a portal. A Smelter burning 
Coal turns each piece into one 
Iron. 
Oozers drop it at roughly 30%, and ancient swords and armour in the Mistlands can be mined for it later on.
