Patch 1.0.20

Version 1.0.20 · October 15, 2026 · 8 notes · Steam post

We've heard a lot of you pointing out that you haven't been getting as many trophies as you should from your kills, and this patch should finally fix that. We hope you're ready to craft those bear rugs!

Please Note: There is a small delay with Mac App Store for this patch, which means that crossplay will not work between Mac App Store players and players on other platforms until it has caught up. As soon as the patch is out on that platform, crossplay should work for everyone again.

Patch Notes
  • Trophy drop chance is now increased by star level of monsters
  • Pseudo-random drop logic will no longer be reset between player sessions to give a more fair distribution for rare drops
  • Fixed a possible exploit to Forge of Potential
  • Reset the cheated flag on all items and build pieces from previous versions, to undo the damage done by a bug in the initial 1.0 release that marked some validly obtained items as cheated.
  • Fixed bug that caused Cheat Sword and Cheat Sledge to not be considered cheated in specific cases
  • Fixed dedicated server running at uncapped frame rate if v-sync was enabled in client on the same computer, wasting massive amounts of CPU time
  • Adjusted attachment points for sheathed weapons
  • Xbox One/Xbox Series S|X: Fixed settings failing to save between sessions for some users
What changed in the game files

Trophies now use a new drop flag that scales the chance with stars but not the amount. Each star doubles the odds and you still get one trophy, so a 10% trophy is 20% from a one-star creature and 40% from a two-star one. At 40% the drop is above the 30% line, which makes a two-star kill a plain roll with no countdown behind it.

A few were missed. The Fuling Shaman, Imprisoned Dvergr and Shapeless Pulp trophies still drop at their flat rate however many stars the creature has. The same flag went onto two other drops: Dead Pulp from Shapeless Pulps now gains chance with stars, and Grimvarn from Imprisoned Dvergr keeps its star bonus to the chance but no longer doubles in amount.

The bad-luck countdown behind every drop of 30% or less now keeps one counter per item and chance, so plain and one-star kills of the same creature count separately, and the counters are saved with your character instead of starting over each session. The countdown also re-arms one kill longer than before: a 10% drop is certain within 21 kills, up from 20, and over a long run it lands about 9.5% of the time.

The Forge of Potential fix replaces the fresh roll with a seeded one. Each refine is seeded from the character's name, the item and the target quality, and the next seed is saved with the character, so quitting and reloading replays the same result. The whole run of successes and breaks is fixed per character, which is what the Forge predictor on this site reads.

World generation is untouched. The world generator is byte-identical to 1.0.17 and the zone code only changed how it marks cheated objects, so every seed map and seed page here still matches the game.
